How to improve scalp health?
People need to understand that bumps, itchiness, flakiness, excessive hair loss and the constant feeling of having to wash one’s hair is NOT OK. All these things cause inflammation, which can lead to a permanent hair loss.
Oh yeah, an inflamed follicle, clogged with dirt, oil and dead skin cells, can not only alter the hair’s texture, but also ultimately stop growing hair altogether.
What can hair care brands do about it? First of all, they can start by spreading knowledge and awareness to their consumers about the importance of proper scalp care. Then, they can go ahead and pick a private label hair care partner - such as ourselves - who will help them formulate a scalp care line, specifically formulated to improve scalp health. Sounds like a marvelous idea to me but hey, I might be biased.
So here are 4 ways in which beauty brands can help improve scalp health.
Sulfates, alcohol, fragrances and harsh chemicals in generale are known to strip hair of its natural oils, sucking the moisture out of it, making the scalp more prone to dryness, itchiness and inflammation.
Choosing to formulate clean products, free of all sorts of nasty chemicals, could be a great way to show consumers that your brand cares about their scalps’ health.
2. ADD SCALP SCRUBS AND SERUMS TO YOUR HAIR CARE LINE
Think about the scalp as a natural extension of the skin on your face. With this mindset, it’s clear that the market is in great need for products that are specifically developed to care for the skin on your head. We’re talking scalp scrubs, formulated to gently exfoliate and unclog follicles from dirt and dead skin cells, and serums, formulated to hydrate and keep a moisturized scalp.
I’m sure your consumers with an itchy scalp would love a set of products specifically formulated to solve these issues.
3. FORMULATE DETOXIFYING HAIR CARE PRODUCTS
What about oily scalps? No problem. You could surprise your consumers with a complete line of hair care products formulated with detoxifying ingredients such as activated charcoal, which is widely known for its absorbing properties.
Activated charcoal sucks in dirt and excessive sebum, making it easier to eliminate them.
4. DEVELOP HAIR CARE PRODUCTS THAT STIMULATE BLOOD CIRCULATION
A poor blood circulation in the scalp can end up causing hair loss and hair thinning. One way to help prevent that? Hair care products formulated with ingredients - such as caffeine, for example - that help stimulate blood circulation in the scalp.
A good blood flow ensures that the scalp gets all the essential nutrients and oxygen in order to be healthy and grow long and shiny hair.
This could be a start but hey sky’s the limit, am I right? There’s nothing we can’t do once we set our minds to it, and I’m sure we could come up with bigger and better ideas to improve scalp health. How? Together, bound by a successful and fruitful partnership.
