Semi permanent hair dye is a temporary hair color that adds shine or changes tone without lightening or darkening the hair.

 

The main difference between semi permanent and demi permanent hair color is that the former adds dye only to the surface of the hair, while the latter penetrates the hair shaft to change the hair color.

 

Semi permanent hair color doesn’t require any developer or activator - which is why it’s ammonia free - and it usually fades out after 8 to 10 shampoos. it’s great for short-term color changes: for example, if one was trying to decide whether or not to go red, a semi permanent hair dye would be a great option to figure that out with no regret. However, semi permanent hair color will not provide greys coverage. Sorry.
